Rob Zombie is hard at work on his fourth solo album, but recently gave fans a taste of new material with “War Zone,” a song he wrote and recorded for the soundtrack of the upcoming movie Punisher: War Zone. Zombie said in a teleconference that it was “War Zone” itself that got his own new record moving at a quicker pace: “I was happy to have that come up because what it really did was it was a nice kick in the ass to…you know, we had been recording, but we really hadn’t finished any songs yet. We had all the songs kind of half-finished, and that was a good kick in the ass to actually have to finish a song. And that really became the domino effect of starting to finish all the songs for the record actually, so it worked out good.”
The Punisher soundtrack, which also features songs from Seether, Slipknot, Rise Against and others, comes out on November 25th while the movie hits screens on December 5th.
Zombie has not set a release date for his next album.
The long-awaited box set from Zombie’s previous band, White Zombie, also comes out on the 25th, containing every song the band ever released and every video it ever filmed.
Zombie has also been putting the finishing touches on his animated film, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, and will turn his attention to his next live-action directorial effort, Tyrannosaurus Rex, sometime next year.
